This Type J2 cavity support and closer from Cavity Trays provides excellent DPC (damp-proof course) support while closing the cavity beneath parapet copings. It also ensures a method for closing the cavity in open eaves and other eaves details.
Parapet structures require a DPC directly under the coping, and the British Standards to BS5628: Part 3 qualifies the process in which it must be supported. This Type J closer satisfies these Standards as well as the NHBC performance standards, chapter 6.1, S4 (c) to (d).
Traditional cavity parapets are typically terminated with copings, under which a DPC is positioned and bedded. The DPC's width must be enough to marginally overhang the width of the parapet masonry. This Type J cavity support has been designed to support the DPC where it spans the cavity and has a standard length of 2400mm, 150mm width and 30mm height. It is suitable for cavities up to 100mm.
