Air bricks are commonly used in cavity walls to allow air to pass through and improve ventilation, whilst maintaining the wall’s structure and rigidity.
Air bricks are perforated, meaning they have small holes running through them, which is the cavity where air passes through. But why is this important? Moisture from the air and weather conditions can build up inside a wall’s brickwork or mortar. It needs to be appropriately ventilated in order for this moisture to ‘dry out’. Otherwise, things like damp, mould and rot can occur, causing overall damage to the building.
Clay air bricks are a popular choice as they match the brickwork of many UK residential and air bricks in old houses. This is because clay is the most commonly used brick material nationwide, and has been for centuries. Alternatively, we also stock plastic air bricks for a more cost-effective solution, and colours include terracotta to match original brickwork.
Our air bricks are supplied by renowned brands, including our very own SUPER ESSENTIALS range. If you’d like more information, need a free quote, or want to know how many air bricks you might need for your project, get in touch with us today on 01752 692 762.
