Weep Vents
Weep vents are installed in the mortar found between bricks in cavity walls. They are an integral part of the ventilation system in cavity walls, as they allow moisture to escape and improve airflow. They prevent issues such as damp, mould, and condensation, making insulation more effective and saving on energy bills in the long-run.
How do weep vents work? Despite their small size, they are incredibly effective. As their name suggests, they allow the moisture to ‘weep’ out of the wall. During rainfall, gravity will pull any moisture or water downwards. This means that it will travel via any cracks or disruptions in the brickwork or mortar, and become trapped. Over time, this can lead to serious damage to the building. A weep vent works by creating a tiny gap for this water to be released. They are often made from plastic and can be compared to a very small drainage system for the wall.
Our brick weep vents are supplied by leading brands such as TIMLOC and our very own SUPER ESSENTIALS range. They come in many different shades to match your bricks and mortar, including terracotta, black, grey, and clear.
