Brick Slips
Brick slips are a type of veneer tile that creates the look of real brick without having to have an entire brick wall. Brick slips are made up of thin layers of clay or brick material that are applied to the wall using a tile adhesive and spacers to hold them in place while they dry. This is a more cost-effective and lightweight alternative to an exposed brick wall.
One of the most common applications for brick slips is within fireplaces. This is because many property owners want the rustic look of real brick around this area. Because fireplaces are a small area compared to the rest of the building, installation is much quicker than fitting a brand new solid brick fireplace. Because brick slips are made from clay, they are also fire and heat-resistant, meaning they won’t burn or char when installed in this space.
Another popular use location for brick slips is external walls. Stone brick slips are also a sought-after choice here. They can even be installed alongside external wall insulation, and thanks to their heat-trapping properties, contribute even further to regulating indoor temperatures. Aesthetically, they can be used to clad external walls to provide a more rustic, traditional look to existing walls rather than demolishing and building from scratch. Brick slips are also ideal to maintain a traditional look in older towns, where buildings may be required to be in keeping with the rest of the surrounding properties.
