Lead
Lead is an important building material used primarily in roofing as coverings, joints, and weatherproofing. It is a durable, trusted, and high-quality component which has been used in trade for centuries. Lead is a versatile product that can be installed on a wide range of applications. It’s biggest benefit is that it is malleable, and can be bent to fit around awkward shapes such as roof domes and corners. It is extremely water and weather-resistant and does not rust, which is why it can last up to 100 years when properly maintained. Lead flashing is a very common way to use it, which is where joints are sealed.
Lead comes in many different codes, and each one represents the lead’s thickness. The higher the code, the thicker the lead. We stock all lead code from code 3 all the way up to 8. Thinner lead flashing is often used around gutters and smaller areas of a roof, while thick flashing is generally used on older and larger buildings.
